Romsey Gears Up for Dementia Action Week with a Packed Programme of Community Events

18th–25th May 2025


Romsey Dementia Action Group (RomDAG) is leading the way this Dementia Action Week, bringing together local organisations, volunteers, and the wider community to raise awareness, offer support to people living with dementia. With events running from Sunday 18th to Sunday 25th May, this year’s theme is all about connection, compassion, and community.


RomDAG is committed year-round to improving the lives of those affected by dementia. Through regular weekly activities, education sessions, and support services, the charity helps individuals and families navigate the complexities of dementia with dignity and warmth. But during Dementia Action Week, RomDAG steps things up a gear.


Here’s what’s on:

🟣 Sunday 18th May – Dementia Information Day, 10am–3pm, Crosfield Hall, RomseyKick off the week at this family-friendly event, packed with local organisations sharing vital information and offering guidance to anyone affected by dementia.

🟣 Monday 19th May – Musical Afternoon with Braishfield Ukulele Society, 2.30pm–4pm, All Saints Church RoomsEnjoy the feel-good power of music with singalong favourites and a welcoming atmosphere. Refreshments included.

🟣 Tuesday 20th May – Games and Puzzles, 11am for 11.30am start, Dr Peter CentreIt’s time to rediscover the joy of board games – from chess to crosswords – in a relaxed and sociable setting. Suggested donation: £2.50.

🟣 Wednesday 21st May – Forever Young Dementia Day Care, 9.30am–3.15pm, All Saints Church RoomsOffering half or full-day “person-centred” care sessions tailored for people living with dementia. For details, visit www.foreveryoungdementiadaycare.com.

🟣 Thursday 22nd May – Talk n’ Tea at Sir Harold Hillier Gardens, 1pm for 1.30pm startJoin garden curator David Jewell for a gentle stroll followed by a cream tea in beautiful surroundings. Booking essential. Cream tea chargeable at £6 per person. Limited Availability – please book your space through RomDag

🟣 Friday 23rd May – Music Club, 11am, Landford Methodist HallSing, socialise, and enjoy music in good company. £2 per session.Also: Table Tennis for all abilities, 2.30pm–4pm, Abbey URC Church Hall, Romsey – free to attend!

All events are open to the public, and most are free (unless otherwise stated).  Whether you are a carer, a friend, someone living with dementia, or just want to learn more and show your support, you’re warmly invited.
